Genei Ryodan
Spider Brigade

"The Spider should not die even if the head is taken."

The Genei Ryodan is the most iniquitous and infamous assemblage of bandits that are extraordinarily powerful and skilled fighters. Kurapika has been searching for this group ever since his clan (Kuruta), who has eyes that turn scarlet whenever scared or excited, was cruelly killed by them. All the one-of-a-kind eyes were stolen and sold for a very high price. Kurapika's hunt for them has been his main reason of joining the Hunter Exam. When Kurapika learned the power of Nen, he took a job in York New City as a bodyguard for he knew that the group he has been craving for will be there.

After two years and three months of not meeting with each other, the Genei Ryodan finally decided to congregate in York New City the day before the first of September for they are planning to rob all the things that will be sold in the auctions. The group consists of thirteen members in total. Each member has a tattoo of a twelve-legged spider (which is numbered at the center) on their back and is equipped with great aptitudes. Because of their loathsomeness, high rewards await for whoever who'll catch them. But even professional Hunters don't dare fight this lot. Squabbles among the members of the Genei Ryodan often happen and are always settled with a coin toss (one side a spider and the other a web). Even though they kill and fight ruthlessly, the bond between the members is like that of a family. In a situation like having to choose between the leader and the group, the members should choose the group. The Genei Ryodan is believed to have originated from Meteor City - the place where lots of things (even beings) are abandoned.
